Head of DevOps (Hands On)

We're seeking a Head Of DevOps to help shape and manage our deployment infrastructure across multiple environments, including classified, air-gapped networks. As our first dedicated DevOps hire, you'll have a unique opportunity to build and influence our infrastructure strategy from the ground up-supporting the secure and efficient deployment of LLMs and other large-scale models.

The candidate must have an Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance (minimum Secret).

The company is located in the D.C. Area and will remain 100% remote, the candidate needs to be located on the East Coast.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Design systems that integrate AI models, backend services, and web applications.
• Develop secure, lightweight Docker images with minimal vulnerabilities.
• Build and maintain Helm charts for deployments across cloud and on-prem Kubernetes clusters.
• Improve GitHub Actions workflows for seamless, reliable code and dependency deployments.
• Make architecture decisions that align with standards like FedRAMP.
• Contribute to company culture and team strategy in a fast-paced startup setting.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance (minimum Secret)
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD tools
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with system architecture and cybersecurity best practices
• Experience working directly with users and stakeholders
• Python and TypeScript knowledge preferred
• Exposure to LLMs and open-source model deployment is a plus
